OUR NEIGHborhood association
LHENA is a fully functioning neighborhood association created to support our schools, reduce crime, beautify our neighborhood, and promote the spirit of community among our members.
At a Glance
Neighborhoods Members – Approximately 250 Members
Area – Bordered by Ferndale, New Church Road, and IH-635 to the North, Plano Road to the East, Walnut Hill to the South and Audelia Road to the West
Annual Activities – Easter Egg Hunt, Neighborhood Night Out, General Membership Meeting
Ongoing CONTRIBUTIONS
Coordinating our neighborhood ENP Program (beginning 2017) – Additional police patrols in our neighborhood to ensure the safety of our residents.
Annual $500 donation to Wallace, Northlake, and LHJH for specific needs requested by each school and an additional $300 donation to each PTA to be spent as they see fit.
Police and Firefighter Appreciation Week
Floral arrangements to all new teachers at the three schools in our neighborhood.
Past Projects
2004 – LH street sign toppers
2007 – $10,000 contribution towards the playground at Audelia Road Library.
2010 – Renovation of Fire Station 57 — paint, new furniture, area rug, drapes, new pots and pans and new frames for pictures.
2013 – Completion of the Lake Highlands Trail – due to the diligent and relentless efforts of Jo Baggett and Joan Walne, both long-term LHENA Board Members.
2013 – Renovation of the Northeast Police Substation break room — new tile floors, cabinetry, paint, drapes, dining tables and chairs, sofas, lounge chairs, large framed oil painting.
2013 – $500 donation to LHJH for Teacher’s lounge update and coffeemaker.
2015 – Clean-up and painting of the sound wall along Audelia from Faircrest to Ferndale, and placement of metal Lake Highlands Estates neighborhood signs.
2015 – $15,000 contribution to assist with new Wallace Elementary playground equipment and installation.
2017 – Contribution to the Northlake Elementary Outdoor Learning Center.
2017 – $7,000.00 contribution to Lake Highlands Junior High's outdoor beautification project which included planting trees, installing cut limestone seating areas, and addressing retaining walls near auditorium.
